Vintage Posters

Vintage Posters

I love my small collection of vintage posters! Most of them are 1960’s reprints of original Alphonse Mucha posters (I have a slight obsession with his work and everything Art Nouveau).

These 3 are my favorites, they proudly hang above my bed. I have 10 in total, 4 hang in my lounge and 3 others are currently unframed because I don’t have enough space for them yet 🙂

These 2 are part of the nine 1960’s reprints which my fiance miraculously found a few years ago. Obviously I would love to find original posters, but when it comes to paper collectibles, that can be quite difficult (and incredibly expensive). I’m happy to settle for new reproductions because they add pops of color to any room.

This is a new reproduction that I bought from eBay (really cheap) about 2 years ago. It’s my favorite Mucha poster 🙂

These vintage (and vintage style) posters add a touch of quirkiness & character to any style interior, whether it’s ultra modern or more traditional. I’ve found some great examples of how to use these awesome pieces of art, in any room, from Houzz (I love this App). Hopefully I can give you some inspiration to add 1 or 2 posters to your own home!

Love the use of different sized posters on this wall display.

The posters add some vibrant color to a white & cream bedroom!

Looking super chic in a modern style living room.

Perfect look for a contemporary staircase wall display.

Adding some quirkiness to a shabby chic interior.

Adding some awesome character to sleek, modern interiors!

Art Lovers Guest House in Parys

We came across this gem of a B&B in Parys (in the Free State). We wanted to go there to visit all the antique shops and decided to try Art Lovers Guest House. What an absolute treat!

The rooms are amazing and luxurious for a reasonably priced B&B. I don’t think I’ve ever slept in a more comfortable bed (except my own bed of course!). A lovely spacious room and en-suite bathroom with a flat screen TV, welcome Sherry & snacks (biltong, fruit & nuts). The manager is amazingly attentive and her personality definitely adds to the lovely atmosphere.

The dining room is elegant, but comfortable and has a very arty vibe (the huge mural in the courtyard also helps!). Breakfast was delicious, with my fiance opting for the traditional Full English and I went for the health option (muesli, yogurt, honey & fruit).

All in all an absolutely wonderful place to stay. So, if you ever find yourself in Parys, definitely stay at Art Lovers Guest House!

Our Personal Collection of Cool Stuff

Our Personal Collection of Cool Stuff

We thought it might be a good idea to start sharing photos of our personal collection of antiques & collectables with you. Now you’ll be able to see what inspires us everyday and hopefully we can get you inspired to use antiques and vintage items in your home!

First up is our late 19th century French Walnut bed. We adore this bed because it has Art Nouveau details. You’ll also notice our 1960s prints of Alphonse Mucha posters above the bed. I love these posters (I have many more dotted around the house).

In the next photo you can see more of our Alphonse Mucha posters. I also love this antique Crystoleum of a beautiful art nouveau style woman (I think I might have a slight obsession with everything art nouveau!).

I absolutely love our 1860s oil painting of an old stone mill (fell in love with it at an auction). A new addition to our collection is this antique camera with original stand, which is a great decor piece.

We hope you enjoyed seeing our collection and I’ll be posting more photos of our collections every few weeks 😄
